The Slayer/watcher thing
.
Starting in season 3 is kinda hard to explain the thing...
Normally, there's only one Slayer. Buffy. But she died (drown) for a minute, so the next
Slayer was called, Kendra(the black
girl on the left). Kendra is opposite to Buffy. She's a good fighter, but also a
consciencious learner. Being a Slayer is her duty. She knows the Slayer's handbook by
heart while Buffy didn't even know its existence. Giles didn't think it was appropriate to
Buffy's case. Kendra died killed by Drusilla who hypnotized her.
Kendra's
death brang Faith. She's a kind of
bad girl. For her, a Slayer is just what she is. She doesn't take orders, she just kills
vampires without any rules. As her watcher died, she stays in Sunnydale.
Buffy is in between these two girls. She's the older Slayer when
she pass her 18 years old birthday test: being "drugged" so she doesn't have her
slayer powers then confront a mad evil vampire. She passed succesfully that test, but
Giles failed to his at the same time, because her revealed the test to Buffy when he saw
the vampire escaped, then he helped her. So the Watcher bosses fired him because he became
too involved emotionally, too fatherly.
He's replaced by Wesley, an annoyong little brad sort of
watcher (personnal opinion). He knows everything in the books, and gives the slayers
orders. The others don't like him, and are suspicious because of the previous new watcher,
a devil one.
Buffy's strengh is decribed by Spike: she's unpredictable, and has family, friends and a life.
