The BTVS love affairs
Season 1: Willow fancies Xander since an eternity,
Xander fancies Buffy, who fancies Angel. In between, there are strange affairs, but
just for an episode. The Buffy/Angel couple try to fight their feelings, but...
Season 2:
Xander/Cordelia: after long fights, broke up and all... they ends a steady couple. Sort of. It's more based on mutual physical attraction, and they try to deny their love, but... no way! Love is stronger.
Willow/Oz: Oz noticed Willow, and for a few episodes, he's only "who's that girl?" each time he sees her. But they ends together.
Buffy/Angel: it's OMG.... problem. Romeo and Juliet revisited. After fighting their feeling, they become an official couple. Angel helps the Scooby gang all the time now. And has a romance with Buffy. But on her 17th birthday... they have sex (don't laugh). And Angel experienced at least one moment of true happiness. And the curse was broken. Angel lost his soul and became Angelus again. And the first thing Angelus did is psychologically break Buffy. "to kill this girl, you have to work from the inside" he says to Spike. He wants to torture her as he did with Dru. He moved to the abandonned factory where Spike and Dru live (they arrived in the show in the middle of season 2), and was their sire again. And he makes it clear that he's involved with Dru, so Spike became more and more jaleous, and it's not clear if Angelus and dru were actually sleeping together. That was a weird funny deadly trio.
So Angelus attacked Buffy's friends, when not herself. When he was tired of that game, he played "destroy the world with a stoned demon". The goal is to remove the sword from the statue called Acathla (demon turned into stone) so it would open a passage to hell, and everything on earth would go to hell. So there's a ritual to perform, but something was missing in the first attempt, so he rapted and tortured Giles, who is forced to tell him what to do.
Spike didn't like the idea of destruction of the world, as he
loves this world full of people like happymeals on legs. So he declared a truce with
Buffy, and helped her to defeat Angelus if she lets him have Dru back. In the mean time,
Willow did the curse and as Buffy and Angelus where fighting, Angelus took of the sword of
Acathla, and fenced with Buffy for a certain time. Just when Buffy was about to give her
final strike, Angel has his soul back. So the two of them went into a passionate kiss.
Buffy sees the mouth of Acathla opening, and she has no othere choice to save the world
than dig the word into Angel and send him to hell. It's such a shock that she leaves
Sunnydale for LA for several months, before coming back in season 3.
Season 3: Angel comes back from hell. We don't know how or why. Buffy keeps Angel's return secret for a certain time, then the others find out. And their romance comes back too... Yes, that's how he came back... the terminator way....
Giles and Jenny Calendar:
Appearing in season 1, jenny is the computer teacher. She's a techno pagan, a non pratican
witch. And Giles hates computers, calling them "dreadful machines". But they'll
fall in love... Jenny is actually from the clan that cursed Angel, and was sent to watch
Angel, to see if he still suffers in order to maintain the curse. After Angel lost his
soul, she tried to make a computer program to translate romani to english in order to
recurse Angel. But Angelus finds out (thanks to Dru's visions), and kills her before she
tries.
Season 3: the couples are kinda mixed up. You have
Xander/Cordelia, and Willow/Oz, but when Xander and Willow are trapped by a bad guy, they
make it out. And are discovered by their lovers. If Oz forgives Willow quite easily, It's
the end of the Xander/Cordy couple (whole plot to investigate). Xander will have sex with
Faith in The Zeppo. As for Buffy... she has a boyfriend, Scott, but he didn't last long.
The only noticeable thing is that when he asked her for a first date, he gave Buffy a
Claddagh ring. And she had the shock of her life. But then she is more or less involved
with Angel.
